I am doing a full remodel of a home where it will be stripped pretty much to the studs and would like to setup a 'smart home' type lighting system.
I am trying to find a way to use PoE (power over ethernet) to run recessed lighting at least for the basement portion of the remodel. The basement is about 1000 square feet and will have a AV closest/room centrally located for running any wires to.
I know there are systems like this for commercial buildings but I cannot find anything for residential.
I like the idea of networked lights that can be controlled via phone/table/pc and I know there are consumer led bulbs out there, but they mainly use wifi and I do not like the idea of having more than a couple of those filling up the house with wifi signals.
Are there any residential networked lighting systems that do not use wifi?
Let's say I have 20 lights run with 23AWG Cat 6 cable at a average length of 15 feet. If I only have 1 point of AC to DC conversion inside the AV closet will there be a savings in electricity?
Would I be better off just wiring everything up with traditional AC recess lights?

I've been looking into home automation for some time now and I'm quite set on having all wall light switches running data and power over ethernet yet I can't find any switches on the market. Is it really not that popular of a method? Control panel not responding.
Poe Lighting Cost Comparison
I'm looking at rewiring the home as it desperately needs it an PoE seems much better in terms of future expansion: changing/expanding/upgrading etc.
My only other option is continue learning electronics with an aim of making my own (currently testing on Arduino with a view of making my own PCB), however right now I'm way out of my depth.
Does anyone have an advice on what's on the market or whether I should try and continue?
